Malhar Tribes in Marol: Yummy Seafood & A Memorable Family Time

Malhar Tribes In Marol, A Seafood Delight

After a long and stressful weekend, my family and I decided to unwind at a cosy and vibrant place in Mumbai – Malhar Tribes in Marol. Known for its live music and open-air setting, this seafood and drink spot in Mumbai offers a relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for families. With its warm and inviting vibe, it’s the kind of place where you can let your hair down, sip on a drink, and indulge in some delicious seafood.

The evening kicked off with Amit Saraswat, a local talent, serenading us with the soothing notes of the “Kal Ho Na Ho” title track. His voice was nothing short of enchanting, setting the perfect tone for the night.

Drinks to Start the Evening At Malhar Tribes In Marol, Mumbai

As we settled in, I took a glance at the drinks menu, though I couldn’t indulge due to a recent tattoo session (better safe than sorry!). But that didn’t stop me from ordering some for the fam. I opted for a refreshing Red Bull Iced Tea for me, while mom enjoyed a Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonic and dad, a beer aficionado, relished a Kingfisher Ultra. Our drinks were the perfect companions as we geared up for the feast ahead.

Appetizers: Butter Garlic Prawns & More

The waiter was quick to serve it, I couldn’t click a photo, but here’s some on my plate

With our drinks in hand, we moved on to the appetizers. I had my heart set on squids, but the waiter recommended the Butter Garlic Prawns instead, citing their freshness. And boy, was he right! The prawns were cooked to perfection and bathed in a buttery garlic sauce that had us all in a trance. We also ordered Chicken Ghee Roast with Appams and a side of Stuffed Button Mushrooms (pictured at the end) – a must-try whenever we visit Malhar Tribes. Each dish was a burst of flavour, and the buttery aroma filled the air as we savoured every bite.

I had no option but to click the ghee roast this way, only way to show the Appams too

Now, let’s talk about the Chicken Ghee Roast – a Mangalorean delicacy that’s a personal favourite of mine. The rich, spicy, and aromatic dish was paired with Appams, which were soft on the inside with a crunchy edge. The combination was heavenly, making it a highlight of our meal.

A Konkan Treat With Kolambi Bhaat At Malhar Tribes In Marol

Kolambi Bhaat: the one that failed to hit the spot at first!

As the evening progressed, I started craving a rice dish. The Konkan-special Kolambi Bhaat caught my eye, a dish I’ve even tried cooking myself (you might’ve seen it on my Instagram!). When it arrived, I was a bit disappointed as it didn’t have the signature coconut flavour typical of a Kolambi Bhaat. However, the staff was quick to replace it with a new serving that was spot-on – perfectly cooked rice with a rich coconut base, topped with huge, chunky prawns. It was worth the wait and added the perfect finishing touch to our seafood feast.

A Night to Remember

Throughout the night, the live music added to the charm of the evening. A group of lively 50-somethings even took to the dance floor, inviting my parents to join in. It was heartwarming and hilarious to see them all dancing and enjoying themselves. The night ended on a sweet note when Dad bought a Tiramisu cake for a woman celebrating her birthday alone. We all shared a slice, and it was a lovely way to conclude our eventful evening.

And not to forget the super vibing crowd! We danced with absolute strangers and even celebrated a bday along. A tiny little girl found courage to sing on mic after another guest dared to pour his heart out. As always soulful experience!
